Frequenlly Asked Questions About
Floating Decompression

What is Floating Decompression?

Floating Decompression is a patented medical technolgy that gently and naturally stretches the spine and decompresses the spinal discs.

Floating Decompression is the only advanced technology in the decompression industry in 20 years. Because of collaboration with both U.S. and foreign design engineers, Lordex Medical has developed the most accurate, precise and effective procedure to treat non specific low back pain.

Floating Decompression eliminates the exact gravitational pressure without exceeding or over stretching the patient’s damaged or irritated area.

As effective as horizontal force/traction decompression may be, there still exists the potential to program either too much or not enough force. Both scenarios cause negative outcomes.

Why is the Lordex Floating Decompression Vertical?

A person only experiences downward torso pressure on the low back in the vertical position. Lordex designed and developed horizontal decompression 20 years ago, but has continued ongoing research to improve patient outcomes. Only Floating Decompression allows the doctor to employ mobilization, exercise and stretching at the same time the patient decompresses. The results are significantly improved outcomes and patients comfort.

The vertical floating decompression system parallels the same logic as with upright vertical imaging versus horizontal imaging.

Why is Floating Decompression so much more accurate than horizontal force traction/decompression?

The formula for all horizontal tables is based on the theory that half a persons body weight occurs above and half below the beltline (iliac crest).

In reality this formula is seldom if ever accurate. Variables such as height, age, body morphology, bone density and tissue density renders the formula at best…a guess.

As an example, muscle weighs more than fat…therefore a fat person may appear bigger because of mass, but the muscular person weighs more because of density.

If I've had back surgery can I still use Floating Decompression?

If you have had back surgery that has failed, you may still be a candidate for Floating Decompression. It depends if and where there is a fusion and if there is any fixed surgical hardware.  Your physician will be able to tell you.

Does Floating Decompression have the same indications and contradictions as horizontal decompression?

Yes. Lordex Floating Decompression is the only system that delivers the precise amount of unloading for each individual patient’s body weight. There is no guessing. Therefore this natural pressure elimination of the upper torso on the lower back can safely and effectively be applied to almost any non-specific low back condition.

Conditions like spondylisthesis, Central canal stenosis, osteoporosis and instrumented hardware or bony fusions should be discussed with your physician.

Contraindications include recent fractures, tumors, infections, metabolic diseases and pregnancy.

What other type of additional therapy should I expect to be incorporated at time of the procedure?

The Lordex Floating Decompression System includes not only decompression but concomitant stretching, exercise mobilization and therapeutic activity to improve flexibility and range of motion. Your physician may elect to include electric muscle stimulation, heat, ice, or many other physical therapy procedures to support your care.

How many Floating Decompression treatments will I need and how fast can I see results?

The number of treatments and how quickly you will see results depend on the diagnosis as well as the severity of your condition.

One treatment is about 30 minutes long and the average number of total treatments range from 15 to 20 sessions.

Most patients experience some relief within the first several treatments.

How much does Floating Decompression cost and will my insurance cover it?

Generally, the cost of Floating Decompression is about 1/20th the cost of back surgery.  Every insurance provider is different and you need to check on your coverage.

How come I've never heard of Floating Decompression before?

Floating Decompression is a relatively new procedure in the U.S.

Floating Decompression has worked for thousands of patients worldwide.  Lordex has recently introduced the procedure to the U.S.

The awareness is growing every day as patients and physicians are learning about the phenominal results that are being achieved so effectively and economically.
